Blizzard boss says ‘Warcraft’, ‘Overwatch’, and ‘Diablo’ news is coming soon

A lot is going on in the world of Blizzard right now. Along with the announced acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft for $68 billion, Blizzard itself just announced a brand new survival game that takes place in a new universe is coming to PC and console.

However, when fans took to Twitter to show concern over existing products being ignored over this new announcement, studio head Mike Ybarra said more information is coming soon. Mike Ybarra joined Blizzard in 2019 after previously working at Microsoft, and after the acquisition is complete, it seems he’ll be back there again. Ybarra said:

“Blizzard is a big studio and we have talented and growing teams supporting live games as well. Over the coming weeks, you’ll be hearing more on that from Warcraft and Overwatch. Diablo will follow. Stay tuned!”

Overwatch 2 has been fairly troubled in recent times, with the face of the series Jeff Kaplan not only leaving the project but leaving the company entirely. Likewise, Diablo did get a remake of the second beloved game, but that had issues with the live service aspects which caused people to have problems playing it.

Both Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 were recently delayed until at least 2023, so it’ll be interesting to see what news is coming on that front. World of Warcraft gets a new expansion every few years, and the last one was Shadowlands in 2020. Meanwhile, this new survival game is said to take place in a world different from any other Blizzard has created, and the company is staffing up to make it happen. Activision Blizzard is currently facing a lawsuit from the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing after accusations from employees that they’ve faced “constant sexual harassment” in the workplace.
